My sociology professor recently had our class write a short paragraph or so about our personal problems. The next part of the assignment was to read everyone's entries and report our findings on repetitive themes or patterns. Here's what I found:

As an older student who has been around the bend a few times, reading through everyone's entries was quite interesting. Some of what classmates had to say is much of what I have been through myself in the past.  One-sided relationships, sad endings, hopeful moments and miscommunication are experiences everyone will go through that help a person to grow, and more importantly, hopefully show us that we are worth more than to simply settle and be with or around someone who is not on the same page as we are. More importantly, it is imperative to trust in yourself and know that romantic relationships are not the only thing that will make a person's life complete.

What struck me the most, however, were the few that had something more to say. For instance, the writer who found out his or her mother may be ill, brought me to tears and reminded me how this is the month I hate the most; the one where my own parents passed away. My mother in 1998 and my father in 2000 respectfully.  It is not easy to lose loved ones even though we all know we are not here forever. It's just so...final. The person who feels they are a compulsive liar; the important thing is that you know this about yourself and now have the opportunity to work towards having the power to change.

We all have personal problems, that is true, but experiences in life is how we work through these problems and hopefully become stronger individuals because of it. Admittedly, it is hard work and for some a long road, but perseverance is key, and with time we will grow to be who we were meant to be. At least I hope so.

Welcome to my blog "Jade of All Trades." I gave it this name simply because all my life, I've had to be adaptable to whatever the situation at hand is, whether with work, life, what have you. Sometimes you have no choice.

I am also one of the most patient people....however, that's according to others. Sometimes in my head...not so patient. But in real life, things don't always happen how you want them, as fast as you want, or as expected, so you have to go with the flow and oftentimes fly by the seat of your pants. Something I'm very good at.
